Conversations on Conservation: The Vanishing Kings

By December 26, 2018 No Comments
The King of Beasts is in trouble. Africa’s lion population continues to dwindle despite conservation efforts. As they prowl the craggy mountains and desolate sand dunes, how do they ensure that their cubs make it to adulthood? How can the desert lions conquer the harsh Namib Desert to pursue their own kingdom?

Dr Philip ‘Flip’ Sander is a conservationist who has devoted his life to researching and protecting desert-adapted lions in the unforgiving Namib Desert.

Emsie Verwey is a brown hyena specialist. Up until now, no research has been done on the species in the north-west of Namibia.
