The luxury market grew by 5 percent to an estimated €1.2 trillion globally in 2017. While personal luxury goods hit a new high, experiential luxury is outpacing all other categories. Consumers are on the prowl for ultra-personalisation across every category conceivable: art, gastronomy, retail, travel. We want to be pampered. How much are we willing to pay to live life to the fullest? Who really wins in the luxury market? How is it going to evolve?


Prof. Sonja Prokopec is the ESSEC LVMH Chaired Professor of Luxury Brand Management. She was named one of the Top 40 under 40 Business School Professors worldwide in 2015 (Poets&Quants ranking). She has been a consultant in the luxury industry since 2008, and actively advises companies in brand management issues and consumer behaviour trends.

Kissa Castañeda is the Editor-in-Chief at Edipresse Media Singapore. She oversees the growth of Singapore Tatler and all its related titles (Homes, Weddings, T.Dining, Jewels & Time, She also heads the Custom Media division, developing branded content and producing bespoke events and services for local, regional, and international brands.

Saurabh Bajpai is currently Vice President at L Catterton Asia, the Asian arm of the largest consumer-goods private equity firm. Prior to that, he held investment banking and private equity portfolios at Lazard Freres, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and the International Financial Corporation Asset Management Company.

Sonja Piontek is an award winning marketeer. She has years of international experience providing top level strategic brand consulting, and is a strong player in turning customers into fans. As the Director of Marketing for BMW Asia, she successfully established the brand across the Asian markets. Today, she has her own brand consultancy and a global keynote speaker.

Vicky Hwang is the third-generation member, and current managing director at the Singapore arm of the family-owned Parkview Group, Chyau Fwu Development Singapore: the developer responsible for Parkview Square and its famous grand lobby and bar, ATLAS. The Parkview Group has cemented a reputation for top-end landmark projects, including iconic, luxury residential, commercial and hospitality developments in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Europe.

Mukesh Valiram is an executive director of the Valiram Group. In 2016, the group launched the flagship stores of Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, and Giuseppe Zanotti in Singapore. The Valiram Group operates 200 brands in 9 territories, including American fashion label Tory Burch and high-end tea brand TWG Tea.
