Stargazing: From the Slums to Success

By December 26, 2018 No Comments
“I was illiterate on the first day. In my school, the smartest child was put in the first seat, first row. The dumbest child was in the last seat, last row, and I was actually in the last seat, last row.” – Astrid Tuminez on her childhood in Iloilo, Philippines

Have a fireside chat with Astrid, as she shares her unlikely journey of corporate and academic success, and her commitment towards community building through Gawad Kalinga, a poverty-alleviation NGO in the Philippines.

Joining the fireside chat are:
Kanti Bajpai (Wilmar Professor of Asian Studies, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy)
Liz Ortiguera (Board Member of Gawad Kalinga, Philippines)

All guests are welcome to then join a charity auction to raise money for a village in Iloilo, followed by an after-party with 80s music.

Co-hosted by:
Luke Jones, Astrid Tuminez, Jeffrey Tolk, Christine Amour-Lever, and Liz Ortiguera
