HIRA MOKOMOKO, OUR GENERAL MANAGER
You are hosting a dinner party for three. Who would you invite (dead or alive) and why?
Grace Jones – She intrigues me. She’s a beautiful being, humble and strong with a commanding presence. She dances to the beat of her own drum.
Leonardo Da Vinci – Engineering mashed with creative artistry.
William James Sidis – Unknown supermind – IQ of 260, unfortunate life story.
What would you have as your last meal?
Champagne, Roast dinner with all the trimmings – it’s a Kiwi thing.
What is the best compliment you’ve received?
This one will always stay with me – a guest said I reminded her of her son who had recently passed (one year, on that particular day. The compliment was, “I’ve been watching you, and you beam light, joy, and positivity naturally.” It brought back wonderful memories for her – it was a lesson in “simplicity of life”. I was just being me; it was special for both of us. We still keep in contact. You don’t have to achieve great things to bring happiness.
What’s your fondest childhood memory?
My nana singing to me and falling asleep in her arms – safe, loved, and warm.
Which song best describes you?
Luther Vandross – Never Too Much.
What’s your idea of perfect happiness?
Near water, being with loved ones and laughing.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
Breathe and if you are going to do it, do it well.
Who are your heroes in life?
My nana, I just love her. Anyone that has risen from extremely difficult situations and succeeded when most people would’ve given up.
Thank you, Hira!
