Nor’s Nusantara: From Ports to Podcasts, Singapore’s Geocultural Formation

30 May @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm SMT

Free

It’s a story not often told: Singapore was part of an ancient trade constellation shaped by Maritime Southeast Asia before its days as a colonial port in the 19th century. What might the old ways of the sea, art and culture in the Nusantara* reveal about Singapore and offer fresh ideas about what lies ahead?

Speakers:
Nor Wang (Founder, Nor’s Nusantara podcast and Head of Development at the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum)
Professor Ute Meta Bauer (Founding Director of NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore)

Moderated by Dr Ryan Su (Art and Intellectual Property Lawyer)

*Nusantara refers to the Indonesian Archipelago and the Malay Peninsula, encompassing a large region in Maritime Southeast Asia.
